Hello,

I’m Charles Stokes a Photography Major at Savannah College of Art and design. I will walk you through project two. Contour drawings. There are various types of countour drawings. They are as follows:

Slow Contour

Cross Contour

Continuous Line Contour

Modulated line Contour

Blind Contour

Utilizing this skill can accurately help you develop a sketch into a life-like image. By the end of this project, you will see the importance of practicing this craft and creating new processes to accomplish your goals.

Blind Contour

Here, I chose to draw my classmates shoe and the items surrounding her foot on the floor as my first study.

Modulated Line Contour

In my second study I attempted to draw a studio light.

Modulated line contour. I attempted this during the demo my instructor gave. He also drew this image, and let me assure you, he skillfully completed the task.

This is when I began to understand what the goal was.

I felt this was low-hanging fruit. Again using contour lines, shading and overlap to create depth.

This was my final sketch. I feel like my drawing skills have increased in this short period of time.
